We generally think emotional healing is a gentle, soothing process, but the reality is not that simple. After going through a long painful journey of self reflection, self awareness and lot of emotionally challenging situations, I get to learn how emotional healing is not an easy process.

I am still a work in progress kind of phase but I thought of sharing these uncomfortable signs just to make it a bit easier for you to understand what healing feels like, so when you experience these signs you will be prepared to handle it.

Feeling of constant agony, asking for clarity, looking for peace, restless nights and clueless days, all these signs are part of your self healing journey. I know it’s hard to imagine, that you are experiencing a never ending cycle of pain and someone tells you that you are healing, however wired it may sound, but it’s true.

Tell me do you ever consider yourself thinking – “I am healing” even as you experience discomfort, confusion, or pain?

The truth is, healing isn’t always a smooth journey, it is filled with moments that feel uncomfortable, unbearable, even unsettling. These moments might make you doubt your progress, but trust me they are signs that you are on the right path transforming your “pain into strength”.

-Healing pushes you to face your deep    rooted fears & insecurities

-It helps you break old patterns

-Make you grow in ways you never expected

Healing is a bumpy road with ups and downs, and it can be uncomfortable, painful, and unbearable at times. But just know that these are signs that you’re making progress.

Here are nine uncomfortable signs that you might be on the path to healing:

1. You allow yourself to feel your emotions.

It’s okay to feel sad, angry, or hurt. Instead of trying to push these emotions away, acknowledge your pai, by doing so you will notice these chnages

-You become more aware of the “emotional triggers”

-You will be in control of how you feel and how you respond to others.

-You start to reflect on your emotions more frequently and try to understand their origins.

This can be difficult, but it’s an important step in the healing process.

You’ll gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others, leading to more meaningful connections.

2. You are getting better at expressing and maintaining boundaries.

It’s okay to say “no” to people and things that make you feel bad. It’s also okay to stand up for yourself and let others know how you feel. This can be scary, but it’s a sign that you’re healing.

  • You push yourself out of your comfort zone, as you realize it’s essential for your personal growth.
  • You challenge yourself to try new things, even if they make you uncomfortable.
  • You acknowledge that discomfort is a natural part of the healing process.

You’ll discover that stepping outside your comfort zone is essential for personal growth and resilience.

3. You acknowledge your pain

It’s okay to acknowledge that you’ve been through tough times. Don’t try to pretend that they didn’t happen. Accepting your past is an important step in healing.

  • You learn to set healthy boundaries.
  • You start expressing your needs and wants clearly and confidently.
  • You are not afraid of conflict and are more willing to address issues directly.

You’ll learn to set healthy boundaries, communicate effectively, and build stronger relationships.

4. You’re less reactive and more responsive

It’s okay to take a step back and think before you react. This is a sign that you’re becoming more emotionally mature.

  • You reflect on past mistakes without making it affect your emotions.
  • You forgive yourself and others for past experiences.
  • You learn from your mistakes and move forward.

You’ll free yourself from the burden of the past and find peace and closure.

5. You realize that healing is not linear

Healing is not a straight line. There will be ups and downs along the way. It’s important to be patient with yourself and not get discouraged.

  • You will experience frequent mood swings.
  • You may experience periods of sadness, anxiety, or irritability.
  • You may find it difficult to concentrate or focus.

You’ll learn to manage your emotions and ride out the waves of ups and downs.

6. You begin to step out of your comfort zone

It’s okay to try new things, even if they’re scary. This can help you to grow and heal.

  • You do activities that you enjoy and that help you relax.
  • You take care of yourself- enough sleep, eating healthy food, and exercising.
  • You seek out social support from friends and family.

You’ll invest in your well-being, leading to a more fulfilling and sustainable life.

7. You easily accept disappointments and take them in stride

Life is full of disappointments. It’s important to learn how to accept them and move on.

  • You address unresolved conflicts or traumas from your past.
  • You do not hesitate to take professional help.
  • You learn to cope with difficult emotions in a healthy way.

You’ll heal from past wounds and create a healthier foundation for the future.

8. You welcome help and support

It’s okay to ask for help and support from others. Healing is a journey, and you don’t have to do it alone.

  • You may question your beliefs and values.
  • You may discover new interests or passions.
  • You may feel like a different person than you were before.

You’ll discover your true self and live a more authentic and fulfilling life.

9. You have more inner peace

As you heal, you’ll start to feel a sense of calm and peace within yourself. This is a great sign that you’re making progress.

  • You share your feelings and experiences with others without restraint.
  • You are not afraid to be judged or rejected.
  • You learn to appreciate your uniqueness and imperfections gracefully.

You’ll build stronger connections with others and cultivate a sense of belonging.

You will finally understand “nobody is perfect, and there is nothing wrong with it. you embrace your true self and find happiness with it.

Remember, healing is a journey, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. What works for one person may not work for another. The most important thing is to be patient with yourself and to keep moving forward.

Just remember, you are not alone. The process of healing may be painful, you will have to experience many situations and emotions that are not comfortable but trust me it would be worth it.

Once you overcome all the these emotional hurdles that holds you back, the trauma you faced will have no control on you, the emotions or situations which used to triggered you in past, won’t not have the same effect anymore. The journey to self healing will make you empowered, liberated, confident and very content about your own self.
